Privacy & Data

We know connecting your bank feels like a big deal. Here's exactly what happens to your data — in plain English, not legalese.

How ChargeVeto accesses your data

We use Plaid to securely connect to your bank. Plaid is used by over 8,000 apps including Venmo and Robinhood. ChargeVeto never sees or stores your bank username or password — Plaid handles authentication directly between you and your bank.

What data we receive

Transaction history — merchant name, amount, and date from your linked accounts

Account metadata — account name, type, and last four digits

We do not receive: your bank password, full account numbers, SSN, or any identity documents

How we store your data

  • All data is stored in a secured database with row-level security — your data is isolated from every other user
  • Plaid access tokens (the credential that lets us fetch your transactions) are encrypted at rest
  • We use HTTPS everywhere — all data in transit is encrypted

Who can see your data

  • Only you. ChargeVeto's interface enforces strict per-user access.
  • During beta: the developer (Jared) has database access for debugging. Individual transaction data is not reviewed unless you report a bug and grant permission.
  • We will never sell your data. ChargeVeto makes money from subscriptions, not your information.

How to delete your data

  • You can disconnect any bank account at any time from Accounts. This revokes our access and deletes stored transactions for that account.
  • To delete your entire account and all associated data, email chargeveto@gmail.com. Self-service account deletion will be added before public launch.
